Our Departments

COWAs’, activities have grown since inception in 1988 from informal to an organizational structure with two main units, namely:

COWA Vocational Training Centre (VTC) located in Kamuli/Kireka Wakiso District. Being located in an urban area the Center, must position itself as a Training Centre responsible to create employable skills and competencies relevant in the labour market.

As part of its innovation, the Centre uses the Dual Training System program, an approach that combines theoretical and practical training where learning takes place alternately in two venues: at COWA VTC and the industry/company or workshop. A close cooperation between the Centre and the industry ensures that the trainees are fully equipped with employable skills, workplace knowledge, values and attitudes, enabling them to be competitive in the Ugandan job market and beyond.

Training departments include:

  1. a) Welding and Metal Fabrication (WMF).
  2. b) Agribusiness
  3. c) Hair and beauty

COWA Psychosocial Program at Naguru Remand Home. Since inception, COWA has been supporting the Government of Uganda at Naguru Remand Home, juvenile ‘Rehabilitation Centre through skills development, psychosocial, rehabilitation and reintegration support.
